Path blocking performance in multifiber wavelength routing networks with and without wavelength conversion

چکیده
The tradeoffs involving the use of multi-fiber multihop networks such as the number of fibers, number of wavelengths, conversion options, and the different switch configurations are examined, and their impact on end-to-end blocking and throughput performance is evaluated. Models relating network parameters to end-to-end performance of circuit switched alloptical networks are developed. The performance gain due to the use of multiple fibers with or without conversion proved to be superior to the single fiber case, when the total number of wavelength are the same, for traffic that traverses multiple hops between source and destination nodes.

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks
Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...
متن کاملDynamic Routing and Wavelength Assignment in Multifiber WDM Networks with Wavelength Conversion Capability
This paper proposes a dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) scheme in multifiber WDM networks with wavelength conversion capability. In multifiber WDM networks, each link consists of multiple fibers. Thus, multiple lightpaths with the same wavelength can be established in the same link as long as they use different fibers. In WDM networks with wavelength conversion, the network nodes ...
متن کاملFiber requirement in multifiber WDM networks with alternate-path routing
An important problem in multifiber WDM networks is to decide how many fibers per link are required to guarantee high network performance. The fiber requirement may depend on many factors, e.g., the network topology, traffic patterns, the number of wavelengths per fiber, and the routing algorithm employed in the network. We study the fiber requirement under dynamic traffic in different topologie...
متن کاملDynamic Routing and Wavelength Assignment with Backward Reservation in Wavelength-routed Multifiber WDM Networks
In wavelength-routed WDM networks, blocking probability of lightpath establishments is generally high due to coarse granularity and wavelength continuity constraint. Therefore, blocking of lightpath establishments is one of crucial issues which must be resolved. Multifiber environments reduce blocking probability of lightpath establishments because each link consists of multiple fibers and mult...

others. So the degree of path-conflict graph is at most l(L ? 1). Then we need at most l(L ? 1) + 1 colors for vertex-coloring the path-conflict graph. So !(1) l(L?1). By the first lemma, !(k) d(l(L ? 1) + 1)=ke. 8 Conclusion In this paper, we considered the wavelength assignment problem in multifiber networks, in which each link has exactly k parallel fibers. Our results for star and ring netw...
